Sound Quality - Echo on Calls

Problem:

How do I troubleshoot echo on my calls?

Hardware Type:

Resolution:

Hearing echo on a call is typically related to either volume levels, a malfunctioning headset, or to having problematic network equipment such as hubs.

If you are experiencing the echo through only one phone try the following steps:

1) Switch from the handset/handset/speaker phone throughout the call. If only one of these causes the audio issue, then you know that device is malfunctioning. You will need to acquire a replacement to resolve the problem.

NOTE: Very commonly wireless headsets cause audio issues, especially if they are low on battery charge. As well, with headsets it is more common to experience audio issues with the more inexpensive devices.

2) The volume levels on the phones are too high and are causing feedback. Feedback will be perceived as echo.

3) Change out the network cable or curly handset cable on the phone. Occasionally these cables can get a short in them which will cause sound quality issues.

If you are experiencing the static through all the phones at the location.

1) Make 100% sure that you do not have a Hub in the network. If you do, you need to replace this with a Switch.

2) Ensure that you do not have multiple phones using a very high volume level.
